In early 2024, the City of Helena Open Lands division gathered public comment on a proposal to improve a trail on Mount Helena that is used primarily for rock climbing access. The access trail connects people to the Sunset Slab area of Mount Helena. The trail has experienced a large amount of erosion and is needing repair and improvements. The Sunset Slab area is a popular destination for climbers of all skill levels. Repair of this trail and adjacent infrastructure will reduce further erosion and ensure continued access for visitors.
The full environmental analysis, with more information, can be found in the Related Documents section of this page.
The City accepted public comment on the proposal through March 8, 2024.
