The City of Helena is proposing the creation of a new trail to improve access to Le Grande Cannon Trail on Mount Helena. Currently there is a short, 0.03-mile, single track trail that connects Granite Avenue's western sidewalk to the westernmost closed section of Le Grande Cannon Boulevard. The current route includes a steep section that is difficult to ascend during the winter months and/or periods of excessive moisture. The proposed new section of trail is designed to improve access by greatly reducing the steepness on the final approach to Le Grande Cannon Boulevard.

The City accepted public comment on the proposal through November 17, 2023.
